What is a Float?

  • Python calls any number with a decimal point a float. It refers to the fact that a decimal point can appear at any position in a number.
  • Be aware you can sometimes get an arbitrary number of decimal places in your answer.
  • Example of a float:
python
1answer = 42
2float(answer) == 42.0
  • Note that in Python the operator ”==” means comparison or equality. The operator ”=” means assignment.
