(As a group) Install DHCP on Your DNS Server:

  1. Take a snapshot of your server before starting. (Name the snapshot: Before DHCP)
  2. Login to the console of your DNS Server
  3. Go to Add Roles and Features
  4. Choose a Role-based or feature-based installation
  5. Select your server
  6. Click the DHCP box and add any features that are required as prompted.
  7. On Features tab, click next leaving options as selected
  8. Read the DHCP Server description and click Next
  9. Click the Install button

(As a group) Configure DHCP on Your DNS Server:

Basic Configuration

  1. Click on DHCP in the Server Manager
  2. Click ā€˜More…’ in the ā€œConfiguration required for DHCP Serverā€ banner that appears in your window
  3. Click ā€˜Complete DHCP Configuration’ under the action column
  4. Click ā€˜Commit’ to create the correct users and groups for your installation.

Further Configuration

  1. Right click on your server in the DHCP window of Server Manager
  2. Choose DHCP Manager
  3. Expand DHCP, your Server name and IPv4 in the left column.
  4. Right click on IPv4 and choose ā€˜New Scope’
  5. Name: Group X dhcp addresses
  6. Click Next
  7. Starting IP: 192.168.g#.100
  8. Ending IP: 192.168.g#.200
  9. Confirm the length is 24 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, click next.
  10. Skip exclusions, hit next.
  11. Accept defaults for Lease Duration, hit next.
  12. Configure DHCP Options
  13. Router IP is 192.168.g#.254
  14. Parent domain should be the zone you configured in DNS (groupX.edu)
  15. Add your DNS Server IP address and move it to the top of the list.
  16. No WINS Server, click Next
  17. Activate the scope now, click Next
  18. Click Finish
