Expectations and Class Workflow

• I expect that all students will arrive on time for class. Arriving late often distracts students and delays the class.

• You must bring your laptop to every class meeting and it should contain all your completed demo files, exercises, and labs.

• For each class meeting on most Mondays and Wednesdays, the instructor will first introduce the topic and often provide data sets and materials that can be retrieved on Canvas. During this demonstration period, please make sure to follow along with the class. After the demonstration period, students in class will be able to work on assignments that relate to the topic.

• Lab assignments will be introduced on most Fridays that comprise the skills and topics you have explored through exercises. Following the instructor’s introduction of the lab, these sessions will be designated as working sessions, providing dedicated time for students to focus on completing the assignment. During these sessions, students will have the opportunity to ask questions, troubleshoot issues, collaborate with peers, and complete assignments.
